Students from Stamford, Norwalk, White Plains and New Rochelle receive busing provided by Carmel Academy with pick up and drop off at several centralized locations.
Greenwich residents can either apply to the town for district busing or may choose to drive their students to the Lafayette Municipal Parking lot (in front of Greenwich Hospital) for shuttle bus transportation to the campus.
Students from other Westchester towns receive free busing from their district if they meet their district's criteria. Requests for busing must be submitted to your district by April 1st of each year. Applications are typically started in the fall prior to your child's kindergarten year, to allow for submission by January 31st. Please see the Admissions Process webpage for more detailed information. All applications received after January 31st will be processed only if space is available.

Yes. All males in the school wear kippot (traditional male head covering) Girls may, if they choose to.
Dressing properly for school is an extension of a student's conduct, character, and sense of responsibility. Therefore, Carmel Academy has designed a dress code for all grades.
We provide two prayer options in the Upper School - a traditional service with a mecheetza (separation of males and females during the service) and an egalitarian prayer service. We are the ONLY Jewish K-8 school in Westchester or Fairfield Counties to provide this choice.
At Carmel Academy we strive to make all members of our community feel comfortable in a pluralistic setting. The concerns of each student are paramount in our teaching of both general and Judaic studies, including t’fillah (prayer).
Parents can choose to purchase hot lunch provided daily by our caterer and is certified glatt kosher. Parents may also choose to send a pareve or dairy nut-aware lunch.
Accordingly, all food sent to school must comply with this rule.
